HIT: Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream £2.99, Boots.

I suffer from dry hands during the winter and this is the only hand cream that keeps my skin from developing painful cracks. I keep it on my desk at work! and apply it throughout the day after washing my hands. In the evening I apply it to my fingertips and put on cotton gloves for 15 minutes. I can still manage to hold my glass of wine! and relax too!

MISS: Collection 2000 cream puff, £3.99, Superdrug

I am loving the natural-look, nude lipsticks that are around but didn’t want to spend a great deal on one as I wasn’t sure if it would suit me. Big mistake, this matt lip cream made me look as if I had coated my lips in primer and foundation and not bothered to put lipstick on. It certainly didn’t look nude or natural and just sort of sat on my lips. The cream had no moisturising properties at all.

JO RECOMMENDS: Aromatherapy Associates Polishing Essential Enzyme Peel, £39, Allure Salon, Cemetery Road, Sheffield

It smells like an exotic fruit salad, or a cocktail, which makes it a joy to use. But just ten minutes after washing off this gentle, creamy fruit acid peel, you see how effective this product is. It contains pineapple, passion flower and grape, which break down dead skin cells, giving a deep exfoliation without the use of harsh abrasives, plus nourishing carrot oil and anti-oxidants. Skin looks glowy and feels ultra-soft; make-up glides on perfectly. Also available from Aromatherapy Associates on 020 8569 7030 or at www.aromatherapyassociates.com
