ASIDELINES: Luggage pain on brand new train

ANYTHING'S better than Midland Mainline but successor train service East Midland Trains is pants in the luggage department.

The 1527 from Sheffield to London on Friday had fancy new carriages with overhead racks too small for most people's cases. As the stor-age spaces at the end filled up people had no choice but to leave luggage in the aisles.

It brought a loudspeaker rebuke from the train steward. "There will be no trolley service in standard carriages. This is because of the large amount of cases brought by passengers."

The Diary suggested to the ticket inspector it was a bad design. "I quite agree," she said.

CYNICS say the name of our local airport, Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, is too much of a gobful.

But it's not the daftest in the world, by a long chalk, according to the flight search engine Skyscanner.

Our Robin has to play second fiddle to Batman Airport in Turkey, which heads Skyscanner's top ten of daft names.

You'd think twice about flying from Useless Loop Airport, Australia, while Black Tickle Airport, in Canada, sounds a bit of a turn-on.

Passengers don't mess with Mafia Airport, Tanzania.

They don't come any dumber than Moron Airport, Spain, and take a good look at Ogle Airport, Guyana.

They're upfront about Brest Airport, France, surprised at Eek Airport, USA, and are developing a taste for Pickle Lake Airport (YPJ), Canada.

For dessert, there's Rasp-berry Strait Airport, USA
