ASIDELINES: Jaime-Lee raffle's one not to Miss
ALL the Miss England contestants do their bit to raise money for charities but Miss South Yorkshire Jaime-Lee Faulkner works harder than most.
As well as working for the official charities she is also a supporter of the county's SAFE@Last charity which helps youngsters who have run away or been thrown out of home.
She's got a raffle on her www.jaimeleefaulkner.co.uk website with 600 of prizes she is personally putting up, including hair extensions at her family's salon.
As we reported on Tuesday she and Miss Sheffield, Kayleigh Fay Hewitt, are both in the final this weekend and hope to make the final 15 on Monday.
Gardens music hailed a success
WELL, they chose the right week, didn't they? Music in the Gardens at the Botanical Gardens attracted a record 8,000 people over four nights of glorious weather – just think how they would have coped this week!
Organisers Sheffield Rotary Club raised 20,000 for charity and now past president Geoff Marston says: "We are already planning next year and might run to a fifth night."
Memories longer than a goldfish
WHEN it comes to wet fish the Sheffield public have long memories, as brothers Christian and Danny Szurko have realised.
They're fitting out a shop on Sharrowvale Road as an outpost of their Hillsborough firm J H Mann. And there's been a steady stream of customers telling them there used to be a fishmonger across the road.
While The Diary was there a chap popped in to say he was emigrating to New Zealand but it was great to know a fishmonger had returned to Sharrow Vale!
