ASIDELINES: Blades' champion catering team

SO Sheffield United finished the season without any silverware? Not quite.

It seems the Blades are better on the plate than on the pitch.

The club's catering team has been top rated for providing the best dining experience in the Championship by directors who were asked to vote on their best matchday meal.

The team, including chef Murray Twigg, collected the award at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge stadium.

Stars' tea appeal for the NSPCC

CORRIE stars David Neilson and Julie Hesmondhalgh are asking people to bake cakes in aid of the NSPCC's Child's Voice Appeal.

The couple, who play cafe owners Roy and Hayley Cropper, hope people will bake for tea parties for friends and neighbours to raise money for the appeal.

Stop for Tea fundraising packs are available on 01254 776 320 or visit www.nspcc.org.uk/stopfortea

Bone to pick?

IF you wanted to do something different on Saturday you could always go to the community picnic in Sheffield's General Cemetery, off Ecclesall Road.

There's lots for the kids to do, including a treasure hunt, between

12 and 3pm. Bring food and blanket but make sure you don't leave any bones lying around.
