Jason back to hog the limelight
IT makes a change for a Yank to find a bigger version of something in Britain than the other way around.
That's the case for Sheffield hog farmer Jason Ringenberg, pictured, the country rock singer from Sheffield, Illinois, who plays here at the University Arms, Western Bank, on Friday, July 24.
Sheffield, Illinois, one of the city's namesakes around the world, has a population of just 946 - minus one when Jason's on tour.
He was here last year and says: "It was great talking on the phone with my folks back home while I waited to go on stage in Sheffield, England."
Bargains lost in The Moor rubble
STIRRINGS on The Moor this week but buildings are coming down not going up.
The building previously occupied by Home Bargains, which stuck out like a poorly tooth amid the surrounding 'bombsite' rubble, was being demolished today.
It traded right up until Christmas while the rest of The Moor on this side was being knocked down for the new markets scheme which has been delayed
Holming-in on Trafalgar Square
STRIKE a light, so that's what happened to him. Remember Stuart Holmes, the anti-smoking protester who also picketed the World Snooker outside the Crucible?
We haven't seen him for yonks but he gatecrashed the unveiling of the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square with his banner this week.
