ASIDELINES: Stay single and enjoy Valentine's

IT might be four weeks away still but it's never too early to start planning for Valentine's Day - especially if you're single.

Revel in your freedom to hook up with a hot stranger this year at an anti-Cupid festival featuring broken hearts, dead flowers, meals for one and, if you're lucky, lots of attractive people looking for something transitory.

There'll also be live music, magic, burlesque and poetry at the event at The Rude Shipyard, in Abbeydale Road, Sheffield.

"It's for the happy and heartbroken," say mysterious organisers, Sally and Laura.

Takes place Saturday February 12 and the following Sunday. Money raised goes to the Sheffield Committee to Defend Asylum Seekers.

Dress for part

SHE may get weary, wearing that same shabby dress, as the song goes.

But if she doesn't want it, the Ecclesfield Priory Players might.

The group are staging Noel Coward's farce Blithe Spirit - and they need ladies' dresses, both formal and casual, from the 1930s. They're also after an electric gramophone and a cocktail shaker from the same era.

The play runs at the EPPiC Theatre, Ecclesfield from February 15 - 19. If you can help, call 0114 2402624.

How much??

A BOOK about legendary Sheffield nightclub The Limit is trading online for nearly five times its original value - despite still being available.

Take It To The Limit by Neil Anderson is being sold for 63.95 via Amazon. Strange, because it's available at The Star shop for 12.95.
