ASIDELINES - Putting a spring in their step

WE may not be able to do fashion in these parts but we certainly know how to do peace and quiet.

Londoners visiting Soho Square today could relax courtesy of the Buxton Natural Mineral Water Company.

It has set up a "microcosm of the Peak District" with the sound of trickling water and noise cancelling headphones.

The installation allows visitors "to take a moment to appreciate the tranquillity of the Peak."

And there's water to drink. That'll put a spring in their step.

Carlos wins out

Carlos, the accordian-playing Romanian, is back in Fargate this week to serenade us with his operettas.

He's been visiting for the last few years and finds locals in a generous mood. This man doesn't need a sound system.

You could hear him all the way down the street. So much so that another musician outside Marks and Spencer realised he couldn't compete, packed up his guitar and left.

Flights of fancy?

FANCY taking on darts hero Dennis Priestley?

He's playing against two members of the audience when he appears at the Keepmoat Stadium on November 25.

Tickets are 9 on 01302 762 576.
