ASIDELINES: Drawing is finally drawing bids

A BID. At last. Three bids, in fact. A 1973 Joe Scarborough pencil picture being sold to raise money for St Luke's hospice has had a trio of offers made for it.

They come after an online auction for the piece - drawn on the back of an envelope - failed to generate a single bid before the original December deadline.

And there's still time to make a rival offer before the extended closing date, January 31. Email a.batchelor@hospicesheffield.co.uk

Race for success

WANNABE actors could be running to stardom - with the chance to appear as athletes in a new independent Sheffield film.

Extras are needed for the film Weed Run which sees two drug users compete in a fun run to make amends for their lifestyles.

The race is being filmed at Millhouses Park, in Abbeydale Road South, Abbeydale, on Saturday from 9.30am. To get involved, simply turn up with running gear. For details email liamsanderson@blueyonder.co.uk

Addicted to art

FORMER South Yorkshire drug addicts have turned their experiences into art for a new exhibition at Sheffield's Millennium Galleries.

The show - called Brown & White, after street slang for heroin and crack cocaine - will display the work of 20 recovering users who have created a variety of ceramics.

Each one of the artists has worked with ceramist Emilie Taylor to produce the display which runs February 4 to March 5.

"It is an exhibition made by people brave enough to confront themselves," says Emilie.
