ASIDELINES: Carry On Kayleigh tilts for the top
THE city's best wishes to Miss Sheffield Kayleigh Hewitt who is in the Miss Every Model finals at Peterborough on Saturday.
If she wins she gets a tilt at the Miss England title.
Kayleigh, aged 20, who is studying accountancy while modelling, is now in her second year as Miss Sheffield.
She won in 2009 but no-one organised a city contest this year so she was asked if she'd carry on.
"I've opened more shops this year than I did last," says Kayleigh, who is actually from Rawmarsh.
Forty years on
JOHN Wilcock, the Sheffield-born journalist who helped found the famous underground paper the Village Voice, is being feted in America.
Hard on the heels of his book Manhattan Memories, his Autobiography and Sex Life of Andy Warhol has just been republished.
John, now 84, who lives in Ojai, California, first wrote it in 1971 when it sank without trace.
A copy was found in a Fifth Avenue street fair 20 years later by Christopher Trela, who has edited and republished it.
So it's taken just over 40 years to make an impact.
John, a former travel writer for the New York Times, still writes a regular magazine, the Ojai Orange, and produces online travel documentaries.
