You might call this vehicle a blade runner, or just say it’s shear brilliant.
Andy Hyde has taken to Sheffield’s roads in a van covered from roof to hubcap in artificial grass.
Don’t worry, though. He uncovers that windscreen when he’s driving. After all, he wouldn’t want to, er, mow anyone down.
The 45-year-old turned the motor green in a bid to draw attention to his business AVA Turf Supply, which lays artificial gardens.
Has it worked? “Like a dream,” he says. “I feel like a right plonker when I’m driving about but you should see people’s reactions. Their jaws drop to the floor. I’ve had more business from people seeing the van than I’ve ever had from Yellow Pages.”
He had the idea when a friend wanted rid of an old van. Andy, of Woodhouse Mill, took it off his hands and covered it in his spare turf.
Now, he parks it up in different areas of Sheffield - such as Infirmary Road - , leaves it for a week or so, and waits for the calls to roll in.
