Diners at Chinese restaurants across Sheffield were joined by lions on the loose over the weekend.

The dancing lions toured the city to spread good luck to businesses as part of the annual Chinese New Year celebrations.

The lion is a Chinese symbol of luck and prosperity and groups in the city spend all year practising dance routines.

Students and staff from the Sheffield Chinese School lead a procession along London Road to celebrate Chinese New Year on Saturday.

And yesterday the Sheffield Lion Dance Team visited 20 restaurants and businesses in the city to help the 20,000 strong Chinese community celebrate the New Year.
