Prepare to shut out the cold, snuggle up and settle down with some cosy Christmas tales from a bygone era in Doncaster this festive season.

For Christmas Tales With Granddad is set to be hit with young and old alike when it kicks off at Doncaster’s Cast theatre on Tuesday and runs throughout the Christmas period.

Presented by Pickled Image in the Sir Nigel Gresley Square venue’s Second Space, the show features a feast of festive stories that will delight children of all ages as well as adults too.

Show-goers will be able to learn all about a special pair of Christmas pants, the mystery of the snowflake necklace and the mischievous shenanigans of the Tomten, a feisty gnome who loves the chance to swap gossip with woodland creatures - and he might just be the reason why grandad can’t find his favourite tree decoration...

The puppet show creates a sense of fireside in the theatre and the show is aimed more at youngsters a little too young for panto.

For children over three years old and their families, theatre-goers will be able to cuddle up around the fireside from Tuesday 8 to Wednesday 30 December.

Little ones will have their imagination sparked with stories about Christmas - the perfect treat for the Yuletide season.

Tickets are £9 for adults and £6 for children.

Tickets are available from Cast on 01302 303 959 and at Cast in Doncaster

Meanwhile, there will be more panto and festive fun to be had at Doncaster’s Little Theatre with a string of festive shows over the coming weeks.

The entertainment kicks off on Saturday with Cinderella, presented by the Black Cat Theatre Social Enterprise.

The show takes place at 2pm and 7pm on Saturday and 2pm Sunday and tickets are priced at £6 and £3.

There’ll be more pantomime fun at the King Street venue from December 17 when the theatre stages its production of Aladdin.

The spectacular new production has been written by Howard Lifsey and is directed by Howard Lifsey and Angela Wren.

The show is a tale of rags and riches and back again, a boy who gets to hold the whole world in his hands, only to lose it to the evil Abanazar.

But as in all good pantomimes, he wins in the end and once more, good reigns over evil.

The show takes place at 7pm on December 17 and 18, 2pm and 5pm on December 19, 7pm from December 21-24, 2pm on December 27, from December 29-30 at 7pm, December 31 at 5pm, January 2 at 2pm and 5pm, January 3 at 2pm and from January 4-7 at 7pm.

Tickets are available from box office 01302 340422 with further details at Doncaster Little Theatre site.
