Fancy an overnight family break in a historic country house with tickets for an outdoor proms concert?
Then we’ve got the prize for you.
International musicians and renowned opera singers feature at this year’s Proms at the Priory, in aid of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, at Hodsock Priory, in Blyth, near Worksop, on September 8.
The line-up includes world-famous tenor John Hudson, originally from Barnsley, international soprano Deborah Norman, from Sheffield, Harworth Brass Band, the award winning Elizabethan Academy Choir and Kaminari UK, a Japanese drumming ensemble.
BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Paulette Edwards will compere the proms, which will take place on the Sunday afternoon.
The Proms at the Priory one day musical feast will give the public a rare glimpse behind the gates of the historic country house.
Our winning family of four will get to see more than most - with an overnight stay, breakfast and entrance into the Proms, worth around £250.
General manager of Hodsock Priory and ninth generation resident, George Buchanan, said it will be a very special and unique occasion set within the five acre private grounds
He said: “Hodsock is a historic family home that dates back to 1485. It is rarely open to the public – so the Proms at the Priory event will give people a chance to see what’s behind closed doors while enjoying a dazzling array of music.
“This is the first time we have worked with Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and we are very excited about the event.”
Tina Harrison, acting deputy director of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, said: “We are very excited to be staging this afternoon of light, popular and classical music in such a renowned setting.
“We want people to come with their chairs, rugs, picnics and sit back and enjoy the wonderful music and setting. Funds raised will go towards our Do Your Bit Campaign, which aims to raise £1.3 million to fund a brand new, state-of-the-art Cancer Research and Treatment Suite at Weston Park Hospital.”
