A group of 25 dancers from a Sheffield theatre arts school will take centre stage when they perform in the West End later this month.

The students from the Sheffield branch of Razzamataz will be performing at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London as part of a Gala show being put on by the franchise.

Razzamataz runs theatre schools all over the UK, and won financial backing after appearing on the BBC’s Dragon’s Den show in 2007.

Students from the Sheffield branch, based at Norton College on Dyche Lane, Meadowhead, will be taking part.

They will be performing a 10 minute piece devised themselves and based on the story of We Will Rock You.

Principal Helen Green said: “All students will have equal opportunity to shine.

“It’s really an opportunity for students to experience being a West End performer and hopefully inspire them to consider a career in the performing arts.”

She added: “We will be starting rehearsals on the first day of term.

“The students were so excited when we finished for Christmas, we can’t wait to get going.”
