A trailer marking the return of Open All Hours to television screens this Christmas has been released by the BBC.

The new six-part series of the comedy, entitled Still Open All Hours, gets underway on Boxing Day with a second installment on December 28.

The remainder of the series, outdoor scenes for which were shot in Lister Avenue in Balby in September, will be shown throughout January.

The film shows David Jason as Granville climbing a ladder outside the home of dithering customer Mavis (Maggie Ollerenshaw) as well as Johnny Vegas, who plays Wet Eric, stooped over after apparently putting his back out in Arkwright’s corner shop.

The new show sees Granville in charge of the shop following the death of his miserly uncle Arkwright, played by the late Ronnie Barker. It follows a Christmas special last year which drew in more than 10 million viewers and saw the BBC commission a full series.

In the show, Granville now runs Arkwright’s cluttered corner shop with his son Leroy, played by Emmerdale’s James Baxter, the result of a one-night stand 25 years previously.
