Singers, guitarists and bagpipers are the usual entertainment for shoppers on Fargate in Sheffield city centre.
But visitors were provided with something different to brighten up their walk – by talented artist Tony Hurdui, aged 21.
Mr Hurdui started work at about 8am, with just a pile of sand and a butter knife. By mid afternoon he had sculpted a life-sized puppy, complete with glass eyes and even a bone.
He said: “Passers-by have told me how much they like it.”
