With research revealing that women only wear around 20 per cent of the clothes in their wardrobe, Meadowhall Shopping Centre is providing a guilt-free antidote.
The home of shopping is staging a record-breaking all-day swishing event.
The Wednesday, March 30, clothes and accessories swap will give swishers the opportunity to re-vamp their wardrobes without spending a penny.
The eco-friendly event will run from 12.30pm – 9pm in the Upper Gallery of Meadowhall next to WH Smith in conjunction with swishing experts DaisyGreenEvents.co.uk, - and is thought to be the longest event of its kind.
A recent QVC study revealed that the average woman has an average of 22 garments in her wardrobe - totalling some £266.98 - which she never wears, but refuses to throw out.
Half of all the women questioned say guilt over wasting money is the main reason for not throwing clothes out, so swishing comes as the perfect antidote., says Bethanie Lunn, Meadowhall’s Fashion and Beauty expert.
“Swishing is becoming more and more popular as women realise that they can revitalise their wardrobes.
All proceeds and un-swapped clothes will go to Helen’s Trust charity. Swishers can take up to ten garments to swap just before the 12:30pm start, but clothes are welcome throughout the day.
