South Yorkshire MP Angela Smith invited Ozzie Owl to one of the traditional highlights of her year.

The Sheffield Wednesday mascot joined the Labour MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge to announce the winners of her ninth Christmas card contest.

Mrs Smith invited pupils from primary schools in her constituency to the event, with the winners taking home art sets and tickets to Sheffield Wednesday matches.

Angela’s official cards with the children’s best designs have now been sent out to almost 1,000 people, both in her constituency and further afield.

She said: “I thank all those children who took part in this year’s competition and also all the schools who allowed pupils to take part.

“Thanks must also go out to all the companies who donated the money which made it all possible.”
