HE’S GOT to dance – though his dad doesn’t want him to.
Anton Phung is a 22-year-old Sheffield dancer who hopes to progress in one of the toughest dance contests on TV... with or without his dad’s approval.
The former High Storrs School pupil is one of four young Sheffielders who will be throwing their best shapes in the hope of success in the Got To Dance competition on TV tomorrow.
Anton considers dancing to be his life – but his dad reckons it’s a waste of time.
He’d rather the lad got a ‘proper job’ as an accountant or a lawyer.
But Anton insists he won’t give up on his dream – and says he’d love more than anything for his father to understand.
He said: “I didn’t want to tell dad I was auditioning as I knew he would give me a lecture about it. He’s a businessman and wants me to follow in his footsteps but I can’t see that happening.
“I would like more than anything for dad to be proud and understand why I have chosen dance to be my life.”
The lad from Ecclesall Road took up dancing whilst at school and says it changed his whole outlook on life. The Gregory family from Woodseats are also appearing on the show on Sky1 HD at 6pm.
