Soap stars took to a Sheffield football club’s pitch to raise almost £10,000 for a good cause with a charity game.

Fan favourites from ITV1’s long-running Emmerdale series, including Danny Miller who plays Aaron Livesy, Anthony Quinlan who plays Pete Barton, and Luke Roskell who plays Sean Spencer, joined actors from Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and Waterloo Road at Sheffield FC’s ground in Dronfield.

Nico Mirallegro - known on screen as Barry ‘Newt’ Newton - and Waterloo Road Stars Cel Spellman and Reece Douglas also joined the action.

The family fundraising day involved Hallam FM’s Hallam All Stars team taking on the Once Upon A Smile Celebrity FC team.

There was also a mini-game for under-11s and entertainment from dance troupe KT Danz.

The day ended up raising a total of £9,700 after a victory by the celebrity team.

Charity manager Louise Davies said: “It was an amazing day. Huge thanks to everyone who donated. The money raised will make a difference to sick, disabled and disadvantaged children in the local area.”
