A BUDDING model from Sheffield who dreamed of a career in the beauty business had her hopes wrecked after being punched in the face and left with ‘devastating’ injuries.

Daniella Fowler’s attacker boasted he was ‘the hardest’ before knocking out some of her teeth, breaking her jaw, and leaving her lip torn off, a court heard.

The former Sheffield College make-up student could not face modelling again – and was ‘gutted’ when told the day she left hospital she had reached the finals of a modelling competition.

James Pickard, aged 23, of Cleethorpes, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Mark Kendall, prosecuting, told Grimsby Crown Court Daniella and her friend, Danielle Barker, both aged 20, had become involved in a confrontation outside a Cleethorpes nightclub last August.

Pickard boasted he ‘owned the streets’ and hurled a shoe which hit Danielle.

Pickard then grabbed hold of Daniella and punched her in the face, knocking her unconscious.

Some of her teeth were knocked out and fell to the ground, and her bottom lip was torn away.

Her jaw was fractured and she needed operations to remove broken teeth, clean and repair her lip, and reposition her lower jaw.

Mr Kendall said: “She used to be proud of her smile but now avoids smiling with her mouth open.”

The court heard she no longer feels confident about working in the fields of make-up and beauty, which she had originally planned to do.

Pickard, who was jailed for two years and 11 months, had 42 previous convictions for offences including robbery, wounding, affray and causing actual bodily harm.

He said he could not remember much about the incident.
