A flavour of Arabian nights was brought to a sunny afternoon in Sheffield.

An army of more than 50 dancers shook and shimmied in a two-hour long belly danceathon at The Dam House, Mushroom Lane.

Organisers Belarobics led scores of ladies – and a couple of men – in the special class, organised to raise cash for charity.

Collections for charities VIDA and Haven House, which both help victims of domestic abuse in Sheffield, took place throughout the day. So far, the total raised has exceeded £300, with more cash set to come in this week.

Jenny Mulwha, a Belrobics instructor, said: “It was a fantastic day, the sun was shining down on us all afternoon.

“We wanted to organise something which made everyone feel like they could join in.”

After the hard work, dancers enjoyed an Arabian-themed evening.
