COMEDY star Charlie Higson, also the author of the top-selling Young Bond series of children’s books, called into Birkdale School in Sheffield to talk about his latest novels for teens.

The Fast Show star was talking to pupils about his new book The Sacrifice, the fourth in his latest zombie series The Enemy.

He also wrote the Young Bond series about 007’s adventures growing up, which has sold over a million UK copies and been translated into 24 languages.

He said: “It’s very useful as a writer to get out and talk to the people who are buying and enjoying your books. They are a very good sounding board.

“It’s a nice age to write for. The children are very responsive and enthusiastic. They haven’t quite reached that late teenage self-consciousness. They ask really good questions.”

Charlie also revealed he hopes The Fast Show will return. “Paul Whitehouse is taking a sabbatical at the moment. He might be fired up and full of ideas when he comes back and we’ll get together.”
