PROPOSALS for a £2.5 million, 40m sculpture overlooking Sheffield have been submitted for planning permission.
Artist Steve Mehdi, who is behind the plans for the giant Man of Steel, has said he hoped the sculpture would be ready by 2015.
It is set to be built on a hill in Kimberworth, between Rotherham and Sheffield.
Rotherham Council is due to rule on the application later this year.
The sculpture, which would stand twice the height of the Angel of the North in Gateshead, features a man sitting on a steel plinth with a hand on his knee.
Mr Mehdi, a former labourer has said he is in discussions with firms to help fund the work.
