Dance lovers can move to a different beat at a new Sheffield rave – from 9am in the morning.
The ‘conscious clubbing’ event on Saturday invites revellers to let their hair down at a time when some might normally be coming home from the night before.
And it’s also family friendly, with the dancing powered by tea rather than booze.
Jo Brierley, who is organising the Good Morning Rave, was inspired by similar events at retreats she has attended.
The aromatherapy and massage therapist, from Fir Vale, said: “I love dancing but I can’t really be bothered with the sleep deprivation and getting drunk side of it!
“At the retreat they had dancing in the mornings, I’d have my hands in the air, be smiling from ear to ear and be filled with happiness.
“I know dancing makes everybody feel the same.
“The event is aimed at people out there who love dancing, want something to do at that time and even want to bring their children.”
The event – the first weekend rave – will take place at Hagglers Corner, Queens Road, from 7am to 9am.
A regular rave runs at Hype Dance Academy, Earl Street, in the city centre on Wednesdays. Guests have previously brought along yoga mats and their own drums to add to the experience.
Jo, aged 49, added: “It’s very social. One lady who came for the first time had a lot of people to say goodbye to at the end.
“We had a student come because he had an assignment that he needed to start and that was no reason to get out of bed, but the rave was.”
Entry to Saturday’s rave is £5, or whatever sum guests can afford. Hype Dance Academy will host its next event from 7am to 10am on Wednesday, February 12.
