THere are lots of Halloween-themed activities to keep the children entertained during half term.

One of the biggest events in the country is of course Fright Night, which takes over Sheffield city centre on Sunday (October 28) from 3.30pm to 8.30pm.

In addition to the main event, Fright Night’s Little Brother on The Moor offers Halloween fun for younger children between noon and 3pm.

On Wednesday, October 31, from 1pm to 3pm Heeley City Farm are holding a pumpkin carving and witch’s broomstick making workshop in the Iron Age Roundhouse, if the weather is fine.

They will also be serving up some hearty pumpkin soup cooked outdoors by Forest Schools tutor Gareth Hills.

Learn how to carve a pumpkin and make a ghoul with the Park Rangers at the Walled Garden in Meersbrook Park, Sheffield on Monday, October 29 from 10am to noon. Bring your own pumpkin. The same event takes place at Chelsea Park, Nether Edge on Wednesday 31 from 11am to 3pm.

At Manor Lodge Discovery Centre in Sheffield, there is a family fancy dress party on Halloween from 4pm to 6pm with traditional games and activities including apple bobbing and pins the fangs on the ghoul...

Entry costs £3 for adults and £4 for children and a family ticket is £14 for up to two adults and three children.

Other half-term activities on November 1 and 2 include harvest treats and Tudor crafts.

Brave visitors to Chatsworth should prepare themselves as the house, garden and farmyard deliver a whole week of scary surprises.

Torchlit tours of the house, pumpkin trails and a secret scary tunnel to explore in the garden, zombie dance workshops in the Farmyard and Fright Flights through Warlock Wood are lined up to thrill the family from Saturday (October 27) to Sunday, November 4. The Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry Centre in North Anston is offering a Halloween Spooktacular at 5pm daily during half term from Saturday to November 4. Play trick or treat with the Witch in the Wood, carve a pumpkin or take a Freaky Hayride. There’s also a daily Halloween fancy dress competition.
