Leslie Francis and Bobbi Brown experts complete Jackie’s look

Have your say

Getting your party hair and make-up right is almost as important as picking the right dress.

We sent Jackie Freeborn to Fargate hair salon Leslie Francis to be taught how to style her long hair into a modern up-do.

Stylist Georgia Greaves said: “Jackie’s hair needed to be soft and romantic – nothing too neat or sleek, which would look too harsh. I curled her hair with the new Eclipse straighteners from GHD, gave her root lift with a sprinkling of Clynol’s magical Powder Punch, pinned the curls into a tumble at the nape of her neck, which is a flattering look for women in their 50s.”

Jackie’s make-up was done by trained make-up artist Gina Hardwick, from the Bobbi Brown counter, one of five new brands which now grace the new beauty hall at John Lewis (which also boasts Elemis, Laura Mercier, Aveda and NARS and two treatment rooms).

Skin was made flawless with BB’s priming moisturiser, Corrector, Concealer and Foundation Stick, products designed to stay put all night long, and eyes were subtly defined with Taupe Sparkle shadow, BB’s Smokey Eyeliner and her eyebrows were darkened – a first for Jackie.
