A YOUNG Sheffield graduate is celebrating after publishing his first book.

David Allen, aged 21, who is a graduate from Sheffield Hallam University, wrote Dragon Pit Underground after finishing his creative writing degree course.

The book is a fantasy aimed at children and young adults and was written in the bedroom of his family home in Ecclesall.

David said he had enjoyed writing from a young age and was inspired by books such as the Hobbit because he is a big fan of fantasy fiction.

He said: “I really enjoyed writing the book and I’m very happy it has been published. It’s something I have wanted to do for a really long time.”

The book tells the story of 16-year-old George who meets dragons, elves, pixies and other mythical creatures in the depths of old tube stations in the London Underground.

It took David two years to complete.
