Tap into your romantic side - the icon of the season is all heart,..

Fashion is falling head over heels - with the heart print.

The big love affair began with Harry Styles on his 19th birthday back in February. Not with the One Direction heart-throb himself, but with his printed shirt.

Fresh off the Burberry Prorsum autumn/winter 13 runway, Harry’s designer heart print piece has since been worn by Victoria Beckham, Alexa Chung and even rock legend Rod Stewart.

In short, it’s become the ‘It print’ of the season. And it’s not hard to fall in love with this micro trend. The uplifting power print is an on-trend alternative to polka dots and can be worn in a subtle way with miniature hearts, or by really showing the love with statement-making, oversized prints.

Think glossy and grown-up, rather than schoolgirl cute, and don’t wait for Valentine’s Day - wear your heart on your sleeve right now.

Become the Queen of Hearts with a fun and quirky jumper, like a striped heart print from the Red Herring collection at Debenhams, or Apricot’s contrast colour Big Heart Sequin Jumper, £27.

Alternatively, be heart-smart with an eye-catching print blouse that would work as well in the office as for a night on the town. Topshop’s navy blue heart print shirt can be worn buttoned-up for an androgynous take or tucked in to a pencil skirt for a lady-like vibe.

A heart-print dress is the ultimate in romantic and there are plenty to choose from. Closet’s V-neck frock (£48) should cause a few flutters - it nips in at the waist to accentuate an hourglass shape.

The on-trend shirtwaister dress also skips to the heart beat. Check out Oasis’s heart-emblazoned shirt dress which features shiny buttons and a skinny metallic belt for a touch of glam at £55.

Though the most wearable way to work hearts is with a block panel of print. Yumi’s Heart Print Knitted Dress is a real heart warmer for the winter months. It’s £45 and is available in black or burgundy.

But if you don’t want to go all the way with this hearty romance, snap up Matalan’s burgundy mini heart-print skater skirt, £14.
