The faded grandeur of Brodsworth Hall is receiving a £1 million facelift - the first major works to be undertaken since it was taken over by English Heritage in 1988. Expert teams are carrying out delicate repairs to crumbling stonework at the Doncaster country house.

Property curator Mark Douglas told The Star: “What we don’t do is restore - we conserve.”
