Russell Kane, Cast
The UK tour of Smallness, the new show from comedian and TV presenter Russell Kane, stops off at the new Doncaster venue tonight.
What is it with us and smallness, Kane wants to know? He thinks we Brits love it – being tiny but fierce, close but distant. He feels the same way.
He talks about keeping things small when life gets big, something he must be quite an expert on, given this list of accomplishments.
Russell remains the only comic to have won both the Edinburgh Comedy Award and the Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for his show Smokescreens and Castles.
He is an established name on TV. After a first series hosting an ensemble of the best new acts on the comedy scene, Live at the Electric will return to BBC Three for a second run later this year.
Russell has also co-hosted two series of Unzipped for the same TV channel and How to Win Eurovision with Radio 1’s Greg James and presented his own one-hour special show on Radio 1 in April.
He won Celebrity Mastermind with his specialist subject – the life and novels of Evelyn Waugh.
A regular on both radio and TV panel shows, Russell has appeared on Celebrity Juice, The Apprentice: You’re Fired, Set List, Mock the Week and 8 Out of 10 Cats. He regularly pops up on It’s Your Round, Just a Minute and A Good Read on BBC Radio 4, so there’s no escaping him really.
Russell’s debut novel The Humorist was published last year and he has also written a play called The Great British Country Fete for the Bush Theatre. Crikey.
