The best of international dance comes to Barnsley as the town’s award winning choreographer Gary Clarke brings his latest project home.

Lustrum brings together 15 dance artists to devise, create and showcase five dance works in only five days at Barnsley’s Civic Theatre from March 3 to 8.

It’s a fast and furious collaboration driven by creative instinct and quick fire choices, all masterminded by Grimethorpe born dancer and choreographer Gary.

Gary has now unveiled his list of participants, including a Barnsley based apprentice, contemporary dance student Charlotte Bentley.

They are being joined by performers from as far afield as London, Germany, Poland and Italy.

But only when the curtain goes up at the Civic Theatre on Saturday, March 8, for the performance known as the Lustrum Aftermath will anybody know exactly what the result of the week has been.

“To be bringing a project like Lustrum back to Barnsley, where my own love of dance began, is very important to me,” said Gary. “I know the Civic will never have seen anything like this before.”
