These were the magical results when young amateur photographer Finn Mellars headed out into the countryside with his dad Mark to try out his digital camera for the first time.

Finn, aged 12, from Woodseats, captured some wonderful images of trees in the Upper Derwent Valley above Ladybower Reservoir in full russet leaf.

The rich autumnal colours are not set to last for much longer, though.

Weather forecasters predict, after a bright spell today, a cold snap will set in.

South Yorkshire folk are being warned to wrap up warm today, with temperatures expected to reach highs of only four degrees, dropping to minus two overnight with the cold lasting into Wednesday.
