IT’S a bold ask but if anyone in town can do it then Sheffield City Opera can.
On Saturday, June 4, they present Around The World in Eight Operas, a show that does what it says on the ticket.
Audiences at the wonderful St John’s Church, Ranmoor, will be invited to join SCO on a musical journey as they perform extracts from eight well-loved operas, including favourites such as Bizet’s The Pearl Fisher’s, Puccini’s Tosca and Verdi’s Aida.
“With minimalist choreography and props, audiences can expect to be transported to locations across the world,” say your hosts.
“They are invited to experience the ballrooms of Imperial Russia, for instance, as SCO perform the waltz scene from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.
“Alternatively they may find themselves in the surprise setting of a tube train as SCO perform We Are The Gentlemen Of Japan from Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado.”
Starts at 7.30pm. Advance £8 tickets from 0114 2694958 until the end of today only and on the door.
