Funky Dance Fever dazzled a packed audience when they performed their charity stage show Dance Addiction at Sheffield Springs Academy.

The girls high-kicked their way through an outstanding performance in an array of shimmery, bright and sequinned outfits, demonstrating their talents in ballet, tap, jazz, freestyle, cheerleading and street dance.

We have a strong fund raising ethos. Dancers are keen to help those less fortunate than themselves

The girls aged between six and 18 danced to a spectacular mix of current chart songs and songs from Broadway musicals and film.

All the proceeds raised, which are estimated to be in excess of £2,600 will be donated to Issabelle’s Appeal. Issabelle’s Appeal is a small South Yorkshire-based charity that aims to make memories through granting wishes for children with cancer and their families.

Issabelle was seven when she lost her three-year battle with neuroblastoma.

The charity works with other local children’s charities to grant wishes up to a value of £500 for children being treated on ward M3 of Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

They also provide comfort gift boxes to children on the ward which contain a replica of Issabelle’s favourite teddy and a large fleece blanket.

Funky Dance Fever is a jazz, freestyle, cheerleading, contemporary and street dance-based dance company run by Amy, Jo and Lynne Burton.

Lynne said: “We have a strong fund-raising ethos and are keen for our dancers to help children who are less fortunate than themselves.

“The Funky Dance Fever girls gave an absolutely awesome performance, and truly danced their hearts out.

“We are so very proud of our dancers for showcasing their incredible dancing abilities in aid of such a very worthy cause.

“Our dance show two years ago raised £2,500 for PACT and Amy’s Retreat.

“Four years ago we raised £1,800 for Amy’s House, so we are thrilled to have smashed this total.”

The show also starred characters from smash hit movie Frozen, with characters Olaf, Elsa and Ana performing in a ballet sequence.

Lynne said the audience had clapped along and the atmosphere was ‘electric.’
