LIFE'S A BITCH: Officer should face justice

What is going to happen to the police officer responsible for the police dogs virtually cooked to death when he left them locked in a car in the boiling heat this week?

The German shepherds had been left in a car while their handler called into police headquarters in Nottingham.

It was the hottest day of the year - and the dogs died an agonising death.

The RSPCA said temperatures inside the car could have reached 47C - and that as the dogs' temperatures rose, their organs would have failed.

They launched an investigation but the Independent Police Complaints Commission has handed the case back to Nottinghamshire Police. and so far, no-one has been suspended.

This man is supposedly an expert dog-handler .

I trust that a prosecution will follow should the internal investigation decide he has a case to answer?

After all, if it was one of us, we could be looking at a six month jail sentence.
