LIFE'S A BITCH: Patronising advice leaves me hot under the collar

It was a bit hot this week.

I say was, because I'm writing this on Thursday morning.

And such is the changeability of British weather, it could well be raining cats and dogs by the time you read this.

I think thunderstorms are predicted tonight, actually.

Which means we won't have to water the tomatoes. There's always a silver lining in that weather cloud.

Because I sit all day long in an air-conditioned office with tinted windows, I haven't actually seen much of the heatwave.

I know we've had one because of the sweltering drive home - and the how to tackle the heatwave advice on the TV news. Have they nothing better to talk about?

Why do they think we need to be reminded to wear sunhats and sunscreen, cool off with an ice-cream and drink plenty of water?

Such things are simple commonsense. How thick do they think we are?
