A RACE night at Chesterfield FC’s Proact Stadium raised nearly £1,500 for Academy Africa – a charity providing coaching to football teams in Uganda.
Ashely Foyle, a Chesterfield FC academy coach who is involved in the project, said: “We’re extremely grateful to everyone who turned out to support our charity.
“The money raised will be a great help as we are planning another trip to Uganda at the end of May and we want to take as much kit and equipment with us as possible.
“We are looking forward to getting back out to Uganda and putting a smile on the faces of those less fortunate than us.”
Academy Africa coaches will be working in villages, with youth projects and schools, as well as mentoring coaches.
Further fund-raising initiatives are planned, including a sponsored abseil, and a team of runners will take part in Sheffield’s half marathon.
