SHEFFIELD United’s work in the community has won the club recognition at a national awards ceremony.
The Blades were short listed in the Professional Sports Club Community Programme of the Year category of the Sports Club of the Year awards.
While the club lost out to winners Watford Football Club and highly commended runners-up Everton, the Bramall Lane club were singled out for recognition with a certificate to mark their achievements.
Sue Beeley, Sheffield United’s Head of Community, said: “We are very proud of the work we are doing in the community so to be recognised at this level in this category is a fantastic achievement.”
The club were presented with their certificate by Sport and Recreation Alliance chair Brigid Simmonds OBE and Surrey CCC and former England cricketer Mark Ramprakash at a gala dinner at the Grange St Paul’s Hotel in London.
