Flower power your way to Wentworth Castle Gardens, Barnsley, for some bank holiday and half-term fun.
A series of events are taking place to keep youngsters and grown-ups entertained including a Flower Power gardens trail to follow around the beautiful, scenic setting.
Sunflower planting will take place next Sunday and Monday, there is kite flying on Tuesday, and a colouring competition for budding young artists next Wednesday, May 28.
A Garden Explorers event takes place the following day.
For visitors who love their flowers big and colourful, it is hard to beat the gardens at Wentworth Castle in May. The yellows, oranges and purpley-pinks of the azaleas and rhododendrons are dazzling – and the bluebells in the woodlands are particularly beautiful too.
In the parkland, look out for the pretty Jacob sheep lambs and spotted fallow deer grazing.
Fundraising volunteers will be out with their ‘pre-loved items’ stall over the Bank Holiday weekend, so there are lots of opportunities to browse for a bargain.
And, at the same time, you will be supporting the campaign to restore the Walled Kitchen Garden, the Heritage Trust’s next big project.
Wentworth Castle Gardens is a great day out for all the family with something to entertain young and old.
