Boy band sensation Louis Tomlinson could make his long-awaited debut in a Doncaster Rovers shirt in March.

The 22-year-old One Direction singer, from Bessacarr, Doncaster, ‘signed’ for the club last year on non-contract terms and was due to take part in a fundraising reserve game.

But he had to pull out after suffering an injury in another charity match just a few weeks before he was due to pull on the red and white hoops.

Now Louis, who watched Rovers lose 1-0 at Blackburn’s Ewood Park on Saturday, has confirmed talks are under way for him to play in a game in the next few months.

He said: “We are talking about the middle of March, end of March time, towards the end of my time off.

“I’ve not managed to get down much this season, obviously I’ve been on tour. But I’ve got a couple of months off now so I am hoping to get to a few games.”

Louis said following Rovers’ defeat on Saturday: “I hope we will stay up. I think we can do it.”
