WHILE I was sitting in my local rail station waiting room I heard two ladies discussing how awful train travel was, with one deciding that trains down south were 'superb'.
I was quite shocked by this, considering how much time, effort and investment has gone in to local rail services.
People should remember the fantastic achievements so far – free local tram, train and bus travel for all senior citizens and disabled people in the county. Reliable trains, with staff on hand to offer assistance. More and more purpose-built staffed interchanges.
People who work in the rail industry in the south tell me South Yorkshire has a fantastic system, with more and more monies being pumped into the infrastructure.
Certain individuals will complain, no matter what.
