Rotherham Labour MP Denis MacShane told The Star that the BNP result was 'regrettable' - and slammed the party as one that 'offers only hate and division'.

Yes that is true, it is regrettable that the British people feel as though the only vent for their frustrations is by aligning themselves with the far right ... but who is to blame?

Well according to Wentworth MP and local government minister John Healey the result was a 'protest vote' against rising food and fuel bills.'

The message voters were sending out in Rotherham is one we need to listen to, he said.

Yes it is time you started listening because you are obviously missing something important right up there in your ivory towers

The vote had about as much to do with rising food and fuel bills as I did on putting the first man on the moon!

He then offers insult to injury by adding 'Labour will inevitably win back these two seats by working hard on the ground'. Isn't that what they were supposed to be doing in the first place or is that the line they all roll out when they finally get chucked out on their ear after years of ignoring the wishes of the voting people.

Politicians need to understand the people have had enough.

Enough of uncontrolled immigration, enough of uncontrolled crime, enough of a failing NHS, enough of stealth taxes and enough of Gordon Brown.

My one piece of advice to all politicians of all parties is that they have two ears and one mouth. So stop talking and start listening!

MAY I take this opportunity of thanking all those Sheffield people who voted Labour in the recent local elections. As we now know, Labour did not receive the votes we needed win, however, I do want to thank everyone who has supported me during my period as Leader of the council. It has been a massive honour.

Labour will, of course, continue to fight for the best deal for the people of Sheffield.

THIS is the beginning of the end for the Labour dictatorship. The country is about to change and the Nanny State is on its way out. Political correctness is coming to an end.

Gordon Brown is too afraid to call a general election because the brainwashed inner-city Labour supporters are waking up.

Will Sheffield get a better deal from the Lib Dems? Will this be a new start for Sheffield? We shall have to wait and see.

But my advice to the Lib Dems is: 'Don't try to con us.'
