IN regards to the article on the 'war hero' being thrown off the train for not having a railcard.
Firstly the situation was created by him being sold an incorrect ticket at the start of his journey, as one has to produce a railcard to receive any discounts which is something that rail stations are very keen on. Secondly we have a soldier returnin
g from a war zone being unable to retrieve his possessions because his barracks were closed! Why on earth would they be closed? Were there no guards to allow access? Is it normal to close barracks?

In my opinion The Star over-reacted and it would be more interesting had the reporter found out why army barracks are closed to returning soldiers.

Name and address witheld

Sack train guard in soldier row

THE train guard who threw Zachary Hoyland off his train should be sacked. Maybe he shouldn't have sworn but he would be stressed out after three days of travelling home from a war.
