I READ that Ed Balls, the Labour Minister for Children, Schools and Families, had put before the party conference a proposal to reduce the voting age to 16. My first thought was to congratulate Mr Balls for having the guts (for want of a better word) to push such a progressive policy.
It is refreshing to see politicians and a political party speak up for youth. We aren't all layabouts and wasters, and perhaps we only need to be treated like we have a brain to start using it. Then I remembered that this has been Liberal Democrat po
licy for years.
So full marks for trying, Mr Balls. If your government used more of our policies perhaps the country wouldn't be in such a mess.
