WE LIVE in a shelterted housing complex. Over the past couple of years, almost every one of us has had the lead stolen from our rooves. The police believe they know who is responsible, but don't have the evidence to prove it.
Police said finding fingerprints at the scenes of crime wouldn't be done because it was too expensive.
On Police, Camera, Action on TV recently, a drunk, who took a van for a free lift home, was caught from DNA evidence left on a beer can at the scene. Would DNA evidence not be more expensive to extract than from fingerprints? Or is the capture of a drunken idiot looking for a free ride home more of a priority to the police than that of a serial criminal?
