I am incensed by this propaganda machine called the "Proposing Group".
Last week my nine year old was made to take home a letter by Malin Bridge school giving a long list of reasons to continue with the Wisewood closure, seemingly written by the 'Proposing Group'.
I spoke to a Malin Bridge governor to find out why th
is one-sided viewpoint was sent out and they didn't even know where this letter came from.
Mr Calverley, Leslie Road, WisewoodCoun Sangar's letter to The Star is just another feeble attempt of using scare tactics.
Many of his views are unreliable such as the falling school numbers. Wisewood was yet again over subscribed and is forecast to be so in the up and coming years.
It is reported that the five Labour MPs are pushing for the merger. Surely Helen Jackson MP for Hillsborough should be able to see the bigger picture.
David Talbot, WadsleyI read with interest the article regarding the Heads United in Schools Merger in which the head teacher of Birley school said that to keep both Wisewood and Myers Grove open would have an adverse effect to funding for the rest of Sheffield's secondary schools.
I feel he is being unjust as the issue of keeping these schools open does not affect him or his family as it does mine.
Also, the newly elected Lib Dems should remember the speeches they made to us at election time time both last year and this, in regards to the proposed closure of our local school they used the Wisewood School issue to get our votes
Mrs L Wilson, HillsboroughThe Traffic Impact report is not good reading for anyone who lives in the Malin Bridge areas if the merger goes ahead. Let's not forget Malin Bridge is bad at present now with traffic and above average air pollution.
The proposing group are thinking of a footbridge from Loxley Road across the river. Where would the money come?
The Proposal group say they have got the full backing of all communities for the merger to go-ahead. They seem to forget that Labour councillors have lost seats because of the merger.
Mr Clapham, Wisewood, Sheffield 6I feel sorry for the teachers of Wisewood secondary school. They helped make the school the ninth or 10th best in Sheffield and if the merger goes ahead all teachers, of both Myers and Wisewood, will have to re-apply for their jobs. Some will be out of a job.
Perhaps the heads of all schools should look more into the merger: traffic issues, safety issues for pupils, cost to the taxpayer, teachers jobs at risk.
