BUSK Meadows School at Shirecliffe was well built, good looking, very spacious and surrounded by grassland and play area.
Now it has now been demolished. What a criminal waste by this Demolition Council.
It built a new Community Centre on Shirecliffe Road and extended the existing building at great cost.
Yet this is a building that is never used to its full potent
ial because they do not have the finance.
They never think about the upkeep etc when they plan new projects.
But, what makes me angry is the fact that the now demolished school, knocked down to make money for the council (not for the estate), could have been used for the new community centre, not to mention that a permanent youth club could have been housed in this building.
Again thousands of pounds have been wasted on the new park. This is now vandalised.
The school grounds would have made a more secure and safer park than the existing unsafe place.
What has gone wrong here? This is bad planning, bad management of the estate's resources.
Regeneration money has been wasted in the haste to spend it. No thought went into any of the atrocious planning on this estate.
I have heard many young-sters complaining about this.
Why not the residents? Maybe we should put the kids of Shirecliffe in charge of the regeneration funds - if there is any left.
