I AM sick to death of reading about the Burngreave/ Pitsmoor area being a crime-ridden area. There are many decent folk who still reside in this area, because property remains affordable here and there is a community spirit.
However, much of these recent spate of 'goings-on' seem to be committed by young thugs who do not live in the area, but may have loose connections to the area or think they own the post code.

Sheffield 3 is a very small area to sustain these kind of statistics. They should go somewhere else and leave our area and our children alone to thrive and grow into decent human beings.

This area was just beginning to turn around, with a new injection of professional people and students wanting to live here, but these no-hopers have put it back 10 years.

Rodgers,

SHEFFIELD 22/07/2008 13:58:54
A SHORT TIME AGO I WAS TRAVELLING DOWN CATHRINE STREET IN A TAXI TO BUY A T.V. ADVERTIZED IN THE PAPER. WE STOPPED OUTSIDE A HOUSE AND WE WERE TOLD BY A COUPLE OF GUYS. GIVE US THE MONEY AND WE WILL FETCH YOU THE T.V. OUT. I SAID I WANTED TO SEE IT FIRST. THIS CAUSED AN ARGUEMENT AND THEY DEMANDED THE MONEY. WE DROVE AWAY AND AT THE END OF THE ROAD WE TURNED INTO ROCK STREET. AGAIN WE WERE STOPPED AND I WAS ASKED WHAT I WAS DOING IN THAT AREA. A DEMAND FOR SOME CASH WAS MADE AND AGAIN WE DROVE AWAY AS FAST AS WE COULD. SOME DAYS LATER MY NEPHEW WALKED THROUGH BURNGREAVE ON HIS WAY HOME. HE WAS STOPPED AND SEARCHED. NOT BY THE POLICE BUT BY A GANG OF BLACK YOUTHS. THEY WARNED HIM NOT TO WALK THROUGH BURNGREAVE AGAIN. THE PUBLIC ARE BECOMING INCREASINGLY AFRAID OF THESE AREA'S. O.K THOSE THAT LIVE THERE DO NOT LIKE THE ADVERSE PUBLICITY THEY GET. BUT THEY DESERVE IT.
