I AM writing to you to let you know that I have recently been very impressed by the service of the P1 and P2 buses around my local district.
As we all know, the winter weather has been atrocious and many of the larger buses have quickly withdrawn their service at the first sight of a snowflake.

The service is run in partnership with the Sheffield Community Transport.

As the buses
run near Northern General Hospital I imagine they have been a lifeline for some patients and visitors.

I live on a road classed as a bus route but it hasn't always been cleared and gritted. However, the little P1 and P2 have managed to make their journeys, always on time.

I would like it to be known that I am congratulating their efficient service.

Their drivers are always polite and it has been nice to know that I can rely on them.

MR Day (Jan 11, Shocking brake of affairs for buses) makes a serious but unfounded comment about buses that operate on service 32 (Rotherham-Sheffield).

He has not contacted First directly but I can assure him that our buses are maintained to very high standards and would never, ever be sent on the road with faulty brakes.

Punctuality has dipped slightly on the route in recent weeks as a whole but that is primarily due to road and traffic conditions.

First buses operate over 450,000 miles every week and our vehicle performance, considering this, is very good.

If any brake-related issues are identified the bus will be taken out of service and replaced at the earliest opportunity.

Safety is our number one priority and any customer who wishes to raise a concern about any service matter is welcome to do so by phone on 01709 566000 or by email to southyorks.enquiry@ firstgroup.com.

I should hope that buses are maintained to very high standards; we do after all pay very high fares!
In fact Jones's fares are the highest in the country.

The problem with the buses on that route is that when the air pressure falls (normally after braking ie: in a traffic jam) due to alot of braking, the brake isolator button pops up and puts on the brake.

This can be be remedied by putting on the handbrake and reving the engine at half revs for a decent period of time.

Buses taken out of service at the earliest opportunity, NO, when convienient to First! If you refuse to operate a vehicle then the next stop is discipline ie; the reason for the original strikes and also threat of more industrial action.

Go through the phone number given by BJ and you´ll never find a manager available, maybe a spin doctor, but never a manager!

SCT have more respect and care for their passengers than First!
